Galen

Galen Glenn Misfeldt was the third of four sons born to John Regard and Mabel L. Hubbard Misfeldt.  Galen was born February 21, 1922 at Thorp in Clark County, Wisconsin, where he attended Thorp High School.  He later served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II, enlisting after Pearl Harbor because, as his youngest brother wrote:  “They were going to be drafted anyway.”  Neither he or older brother Clyde left the United States during the war.

Galen stayed home on the farm until he was 28.  He married Ruth Zimmerman on October 18, 1952.  Ruth was born at Byron in Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin on November 23, 1916.

Galen spent most of his professional career working the Thorp Finance Corporation, which later became ITT Thorp Corporation.

Galen and Ruth had two children:

  • Mona Rae Misfeldt was born November 30, 1954; and,
  • Kurt Lee Misfeldt was born July 28, 1956.
